Did you know that jazz was first played in 1904?
It was performed by one of the great cornetists, Joe "King" Oliver and his leading student and future star, Louis Armstrong, hailed from New Orleans along with other influential musicians - including Jelly Roll Morton. It was first played when he toured with vaudeville shows around southern cities, also playing in Chicago and New York.
